Comments
Comments: Patches of both fairly well packed decaying monorail and some looser, mushier ones along the way depending on angle towards sun. Mainly dry trail with a few monorail patches for the first 2.5 miles. We brought spikes but never put them on because we were back on bare ground in a blink of an eye. Definitely an opportunity to posthole (as I did up to my upper thigh around 3000 ft). Didn't go to Middle Sister but trail looked to be in about the same condition as Piper for the first 50 feet or so. Patches of soft snow near summit.
