Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There is flagging tape and signs to guide you around where the old trail crosses the river (due to bridge failure). The first water crossing has a lot of rocks to hop across. The second water crossing is very small and easy to rock hop as well. There is some impressive erosion along the sides of the brook.

Comments
Comments: The trail has a bit of everything right now in typical early spring conditions. The lower elevations are down to mud and patches of crusty snow. Middle part of the trail has several inches of snow, sort of packed down but also with some foot steps - not quite post holes because the snow isn't that deep here. The upper elevation leading to the summit has impressively deep snow still and would benefit from snowshoes for the sake of evening out the trail. Spikes are totally doable, especially in the morning when the snow is firm. Afternoon soft snow up top has many convenient foot holds to step up but also a few postholes. Saw a line of bear tracks a short ways down from the top. Stair Mountain trail was unbroken. Overall this is a superb mountain because the views of big summits seem oh-so-close! What a spot, with many giant rocks for lunchtime. A good looking cliff over the edge of some of the rocks. Beautiful ravine below. All this for a pretty easy going trail. Excellent.
