Comments
Comments: Wild day! Only one brave soul had broken trail up Airline. I crossed over and went up Valley Way. 1.5 miles up conditions improved and snow was in better condition. Lots of limbs and one tree down but you can get around. Unfortunately someone post holed the trail - not cool.
COnditions at madison were fantastic! High winds at top but mild temps. I was the only person up there - kinda strange. Fortunately a group earlier had broken trail across Gulfside. SNow is so deep most cairns are buried. HAd a tough time finding Airline on descent but that one brave soul left his/her mark and was able to navigate. By 1pm, the conditions deteriorated. SUn came out and I was rained on by melting branch snow going down. HUGE warm pile of moose scat on trail and very bummed I did not see it. Probably last day of winter hiking. It will be all slush all week.
