Comments
Comments: A friend from western MA and I did a backcountry pond tour here today; turns out Pisgah State Park is about equal drive time for both of us.

This area of the state seems to have gotten the least amount of snow from the recent storm and conditions confirmed that. Where there was snow there was only an inch or two and it was wet, slushy, and disappearing fast. Plenty of mud and puddles to go along with it. We barebooted round-trip.

This is a really nice loop that not only visits Fullam and Lily ponds, but a few other smaller, unnamed ponds and marshes. At Fullam Pond we witnessed two buffleheads getting into a territorial dispute. Not sure who eventually won out. Also at Fullam Pond we spotted black bear tracks that we followed all the way to Lily Pond. Very cool.

Another quiet day in the park; only saw one other person.
