Comments
Comments: Hiked Chocorua via Piper Trail. Trail was in rough shape from the start with post holes everywhere. Started with snowshoes but trail was frozen over so not much progress cleaning it up. Snowshoes all the way up to the Champney Falls trail split. Went a little farther towards summit and switched over to microspikes. Weather warmed up on the way down and we were able to clean the trail up a little. Lots of people bare booting up as we came up so guessing trail will remain rough. No tracks to Nickerson Ledge, Middle Sister from below and no tracks to middle sister from up high either. Summit area was easy to navigate, bare rock and ice. It was the best of times with views, it was the worst of times with spring potholes.
