Comments
Comments: Glad to help keep NH parks funded.

All NH Parks are self-funded. And btw, oddly for a state dependent on outdoor tourism, NH legislature's weird funding pecking order puts State Parks just one notch above state Prisons/Corrections. Go figure.

Only thin, intermittent ice /snow starting maybe 1/2 way up Wapack trail. Safer to don light traction on way to summit. Path to North Pack viewpoint was thinly snow/ice covered. By now, more will have melted, but with colder nighttime temps and wind, thin ice conditions will certainly remain in forested areas.

We opted to walk down auto road, as guessed that Marion Davis trail was more that likely a that mudfest.

Auto road loop at summit was clear but 21% grade 1/10 mile hill was covered in thin black ice. I very nearly took a header, as I had just removed my microspikes; they went back on. T by ere was was anotger short steep section of black ice a short way down from there. Rest of auto road was dry or wet but free of ice & snow.

This was a Plan C hike for my trail buddy and I. Our much longer Plan A & B hikes were dropped due to early rain/ wind forecasts. South or North Pack are solid, if short hikes that never disappoint. Another good day on the trails.
