Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Dropped car at Frankenstein Trestle historical sign on Rte 302 just north of entrance to Dry River Campground, room for half dozen cars easily. Parking at Pleasant Valley Picnic Area room for at least a dozen cars. Rainy day probably is the reason we were only car in the parking areas.

Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of blazes. The kiosk at Pleasant Valley Picnic Area has good information since what is show on the Map #1 of the 30th edition WMG is confusing with incorrect/missing mileage.

Comments
Comments: Rain, Danielle's recommended gear was an umbrella, I just wore my raincoat. From Pleasant Valley Picnic Area we walked along the road a short distance south to the trail sign that pointed us back into the woods along the bank of the Saco River. This is an old school trail that is actually on the bank of the river and is definitely pleasant. In just 2/10th we took the unsigned but blazed left that goes back to Rte 302 and continues on the other side of the road--this is the 4/10th link trail that continues to its junction with the Saco River Trail--we went out and back on this link section and then continued down Maggie's Run along the bank of the Saco River crossing a few dry drainages that look like they must run full in the spring. At the end we went out and back the 2/10th of a mile that is signed Maggie's Extension that pops you out at end of guardrail before the bridge. The sign directing hikers back to Rte 302/Frankenstein Trestle historic marker is missing? I hiked this trail when it first opened and recalled following blazes up the drainage with pieces of asphalt and other debris scattered about it, we followed the blue blazes. Nearer the road we noticed more blue blazes just north of the his drainage bed, apparently the trail has been re-rerouted out of the drainage bed, so we went out and back on that too. The trail along the rive is nice and feels more like a fisherman's path with lots of blazes than a hiking trail.
