Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No issues on the short section of official trail I was on (TMST). BKT has a couple of large blowdowns. I delimbed one so only the trunk remains as an easy stepover. The herd path between Bald Knob and Turtleback is vague in a few spots, but generally easy to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure. No water here though.
Bugs
Bugs: Not too bad. Wind kept them under control. I did pick up one tick.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: Holy steep I had kinda forgotten how direct BKT is. Rough too, especially in the notch just before you reach the Knob. But it gets you there quickly. From Bald Knob I followed the herd path up to just below the Turtleback summit, where I took the hiking trail the rest of the way. I had planned on bushwhacking to Middle Mountain today as well, but I got a late start, and it was hot, so I headed back the same way.

A mix of haze and sun today with hot and humid temps. A nice wind on the summits helped cool things off.
