Comments
Comments: This was an approach to Bog I scouted out a while ago and went for it today.

From the gate, I walked up the wide logging road, continuing straight at the junction. I walked this muddy and wet road until it started to veer away from Old English. I then took a bearing on the hill and started bushwhacking up swinging around one cliffy area. Just below the summit I hit another, newer logging road which led up to a clearing with a view over to Cardigan. Just behind this clearing is the small, unrecognized summit of Old English. No views here.

I backtracked on this logging road a bit until it started to descend, then jumped off so I would stay on the ridge. Excellent open woods along the ridge and little snow due to the sun. Along the way I spotted a few cairns and a trace of what may have been a trail, which ended at the unnamed bump in between Old English and Bog. There is a large clearing here with a cairn. Just before this bump is a great cleared view over to Kearsarge.

I continued down into a minor col through more good woods and then picked up what I believe to be an old skid road which took me nearly to the summit of Bog. It ended at a sharp turn on the SRKG. I then walked the hiking trail a very short distance to the summit. Excellent views well into Vermont and blue skies today. I pretty much followed the same route out, skirting the summit of Old English.

In general, there is still a good amount of snow on north-facing slopes. I ended up wearing spikes round-trip. The snow was mainly supportive, but I did punch through several times. Exposed areas and south facing slopes were snow-free. The woods were super open and bushwhacking was easy. This might be a more pleasant trip in drier weather, but also has the potential to be very tick-ey.
