Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: From Rt 16, drove in 3.6 mi on Greenough Pond Rd. Parked in excellent, wide, plowed pulloff well out of the way of logging trucks. Encountered 2 logging operations but no logging trucks. Road was driveable by even a low clearance vehicle, but I still prefer to be safe with a 4wd in these roads. Logging truck driver in Errol told us that trucks are currently operating all night to take advantage of cold temps, and before roads get posted.

Comments
Comments: Bearing took us from car through wide open hardwoods and a moderately steep grade (grade appears steeper on topo map). Easy bw until 1850' when we hit thick spruce and bumps. Then veered off course a bit to the south back into open hardwoods, skirting the spruce and ledgy bumps, and on to the summit.
Reasonable breaking of approx 12" with high flotation snowshoes.
