| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
From Rt 16, drove in 3.6 mi on Greenough Pond Rd. Parked in excellent, wide, plowed pulloff well out of the way of logging trucks. Encountered 2 logging operations but no logging trucks. Road was driveable by even a low clearance vehicle, but I still prefer to be safe with a 4wd in these roads. Logging truck driver in Errol told us that trucks are currently operating all night to take advantage of cold temps, and before roads get posted. |

| Comments: |
Bearing took us from car through wide open hardwoods and a moderately steep grade (grade appears steeper on topo map). Easy bw until 1850' when we hit thick spruce and bumps. Then veered off course a bit to the south back into open hardwoods, skirting the spruce and ledgy bumps, and on to the summit.
Reasonable breaking of approx 12" with high flotation snowshoes. |
