Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Saw the owner of the property and he asked that we park on the road next to a clump of 3 trees, BEFORE the turn where the trail starts. Please respect this so he doesn't shut the trail down again.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bunnell Brook Crossing was fine but need to test where you step, if you are off the rocks you might end up in the water. Could see running water where pole broke through.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns, easy to go around. One step on/over where you should be careful you don't go down through the branches of the tree.

Comments
Comments: We broke trail for 2.5 miles up to intersection with Kilkenny Ridge Trail. You'll go through 2 intersections with old roads in the first .8mi, just keep going straight. Saw two old yellow blazes and a sign at the brook that said "last water before summit. We had no tracks to follow but could sort of see the dip in the old roads, then paralleled the brook. The tricky part was above the brook where the trail forks. We wanted to stay left as that was the most direct fork, but we got a little off course and then overcorrected, but I think the trail that we ultimately laid out will be pretty obvious. Used All-Trails app to help navigate and we were glad to have it. Above the intersection with Kilkenny Ridge Trail the trail was broken out but pretty narrow and kind of uneven. We stayed on snowshoes but it could easily have been done with microspikes. No Ice anywhere other than a few windblown patches outside the cabin. Between cabin and summit there were some random herd paths, but again I think it will be pretty obvious which way to go. No views, we were in the clouds and very windy so we ate lunch in the cabin and got moving quickly. I do have a track saved on all-trails but can't seem to post it. You can e-mail me for a pdf copy if you want one. On all-trails you'll get the approach from York Pond, but just move the map around and you'll see a black broken line trail from Jefferson that you can follow.
