Comments
Comments: The entire trail is boilerplate ice topped with two inches of very loose snow that hasn't really bound to the trail yet. I used really light traction for the first mile (YakTrax). I had to switch to Hillsounds midway up, and I stayed in those throughout the trip. I carried snowshoes for 1.5 mile, when I decided to ditch them to save weight. The final pitch to the summit is SKETCHY, but nothing impossible - I did it with light traction and a little bit of care. One set of tracks to the north peak, but quite a few broke the spur trail to the first viewpoint. Finished up with dinner at Lathams in Lyme. This mountain is a fantastic winter hike. Thanks to KenM for the recommend.
