Comments
Comments: Cannon has not yet opened for the season and no snowmaking operations have taken place on the Mittersill-Cannon Trail. There was a dusting of snow in the base elevations with some ice, but snowpack increased to about 2-3" around 3,000 feet in elevation with some deeper drifts. Also some blue and black ice to contend with, originating from past construction caused erosion. Slow going in some places due to loose rocks and random holes lurking under the snow from the construction as well. If there were a couple more inches of snow, I would have opted for snowshoes. Nice sunrise with temperatures and winds not too bad.
