| Comments: |
After climbing this mountain numerous times via the Ammo and Crawford Path trails this route to the summit is much harder – longer mileage, more vertical, and nearly all of it is rock/boulder hopping. Plus there was ice to get around on some parts of the Tucks trail with the majority of it encountered on the Lion Head summer trail where you wouldn’t want it – the steep ledges and at the top of the ladder. Spikes were of no use. By accident got swept off the Lion Head Trail and followed the Alpine Garden trail over to Tucks. Only a slight wind on the summit and 28 degrees on this sunny day. Saw several other hikers who all climbed up the head wall but wisely decided to descend via the Lion Head trail. |
