Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, September 14, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Roadside at a large pulloff opposite the trailhead on Rt. 302.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues. All drainages are running, but are low. The tributary crossing is an easy walk.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: End of season cleanup of my adopted Mt. Tremont Trail. My main task today was trimming hobblebush in the lower switchbacks. I opened up the corridor from the tributary crossing until about halfway up the old logging road section of trail. Still more to do. Kudos to the USFS work crew who has been up and down the entire trail recently removing larger / older blowdowns. Thank you!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure, but no water above the tributary crossing.
Bugs
Bugs: A few.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One length of rope with a clip on it, right at the start of the trail. I carried it out.

Comments
Comments: Mostly dry trail with the usual areas of mud. Along the way I noticed signs of the USFS work crew. I didn't summit, so I'm not sure if anything was done to the super eroded pitch shortly below the top, but now I know they've seen it, so hopefully that area can be worked on. In addition to trimming, I brushed in one bypass on the flats after the logging road junction. I met two older women (70s) who were hiking Tremont for the 52WAV list. Well done, ladies! :)
