Trails
Trails: East Pond Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, August 19, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The small lot off the Kanc. I was the only one there in the AM.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several easy stepovers. Blazes are infrequent, old and faded, but not really needed either. This route is a wide and clear corridor the whole way.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure. Great trail for dogs. No water between Pine Brook and the pond though.
Bugs
Bugs: A few mosquitoes and a deer fly or two down lower. Dragonflies at the pond were keeping any bugs there under control.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: EPT from the Kanc to complete it for redlining. A lovely trail and the height of land is a stretch of beautiful forest. The trail was wet from recent rain and some rocks were slick. Not too much in the way of mud, just one stretch past the crossing of Pine Brook. I had the pond to myself and the sun was out by the time I got there. Nice view up to the ridge. It was socked in last time I was here. Just a few people and two dogs out today, a very quiet area.
