Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The ART lot was 1/4 full at 8:00 and 1/2 full at 2:30.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There are over a dozen crossings - all rock hops or step overs. The water level is low so the crossings are fine.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There is one blowdown about 2.0 miles up - it looks like it has been there for a while. Otherwise, the trail is in great shape. It has three distinct parts. The first part is dirt and root. The second is larger rocks. The third is ledge and slab. I can see this being a challenge in the rain or when the slab is wet. There is a lot of standing or flowing water on the trails but is isn't an issue because it is flowing under.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw 10 dogs coming up the trail - all sorts of breeds, off leash, and doing well. The top of the trail might be a bit of a challenge for some dogs - it is steep.
Bugs
Bugs: Bugs were not an issue - buzzing about but minding their own business.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: This was a great hike.....the views from the top half of the ART are fantastic. The spur trail from the hut to Monroe was relatively easy but steep. The weather cooperated on Monroe, although Washington was clouded in for much of the time. The ART was empty going up but crowded coming down - I probably saw 60 people making their way up after noon. The Lakes of the Clouds Hut is a nice stop over before trying to summit either Monroe or Washington.
