Surprisingly easy walk on several logging roads beginning at the end of Mason Rd. There were several branching off the main road but I kept to the one that put ended at a very large log landing. From there I crossed Kimball Brook and followed another older road to about 2000' where it ended at an old logging camp. Saw several rusting artifact in this area. From here I followed the herd path through mostly open woods up the steep western slope of Teapot. Expected to enjoy an early lunch at the top but the flies (black 'house type' flies) were so bad I needed to put on a head net just to read the register. Seems Jack from Littleton encountered the same situation the last time he was there. Disappointed that the teapot was missing, Amy reported that it was still there last October and I was looking forward to having a photo of it. Pretty much followed my track back to the logging camp and the roads out. |
