Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lonesome Lake trail from the Hi-Cannon junction to the Cascade Brook trail is closed for trail work. Detour is to Hi-Cannon to the Dodge Cutoff trail. Dodge Cutoff goes through a very muddy/swampy/standing water area ~50 feet long just before the lake that has braided herd paths around it- needs a bog bridges especially with the increased traffic from the detour. Fishnin' Jimmy & Kinsman Ridge from Kinsman Junction to South Kinsman was in excellent shape! One blowdown on the Kinsman Ridge trail between the middle Cannon Balls. Kinsman Ridge trail from kinsman Junction to the ascent to last Cannon Ball before Cannon Mtn was quite muddy slowing the pace considerably with bog bridges in desperate need of repair.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several well behaved dogs on the trails today that seemed to be enjoying the day
Bugs
Bugs: Summit ledge of North Kinsman when the breeze stopped the bugs attacked with vigor and chased us off the summit, Kinsman Ridge trail from Kinsman Junction to Hi-Cannon was quite buggy as well
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: -Lost: Blood on the Kinsman Ridge Trail from the bugs- if found kill the bugs -Found: Ziploc bag of dog food/treats fount just before Hi-Cannon/Lonesome Lake trail intersection on the way out. Left the bag at the Lafayette Campground trailhead.

Comments
Comments: Excellent day with the weather. Kids had a blast with the hike (#'s 18 and 14 of the 4k's for them). I completely missed the fact that the Lonesome Lake Trail had a section closed which made the hike in a bit more aggressive. Would not recommend the Kinsman Ridge trail for the first 1.8 or 1.9 miles after Kinsman Junction towards Cannon until the weather turns drier. Mud and bog bridge disrepair slowed progress significantly.
