Bugs: As I was coming out through the back way (in berry bushes) to beaver brook I found three ticks. Never have seen them in the whites before quite a wakeup call.

Comments
Comments: Clear of snow through the first ~ 5 miles. The climb from the brook to the junction of Gale River/Garfield trail puts you back in winter. Spiked up to Galehead and switched to snowshoes. There are some bare spots on top of South but good snowshoe trail and easy to find all the way over to North. Continued down the steeps to Galehead with snowshoes and used them up to Galehead. Also used them on the way down until monorail became to thin. Very wet but thankfully conditions were warm. Saw my only hikers on the bench at the normal Gale River parking site.
