Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: First two crossings were easily rock hopped and the highest one was snow bridged. With todays water levels even the highest one would've been easy if bridge gave out later in day.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown on Bald Peak Spur causing route around. Nice trail; signs of recent work; thanks.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few who had come up from other side enjoying day. Trail was perfect for them today.
Bugs
Bugs: Many snow fleas and a few larger ones buzzing around near North Kinsman.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found some sort of creature at North Kinsman lookout; hope you enjoy a laugh if finding a picture out in the internet world.

Comments
Comments: Early start (coming back down around noon) to avoid potential soft trails. Trail up to the first brook crossing was either dry or wet/muddy where one could "walk the rock" to avoid digging up soft trail. Soft ice and packed snow from here to point above Bald Peak Spur where you start gaining elevation. Used micro spikes off and on in between brooks eventually leaving them on once climbing. Consistent snow pack from here to South Kinsman but very little ice and that was soft and easily dealt with. Used snow shoes once leaving ridge until on my out to Bald Peak. Kinsman Ridge Tr. much more packed down than Mt. Kinsman Tr.. Snow depth 2-3 feet up high (estimate). Could've gotten by without shoes but I am going to continue to bring them as the deep snow levels could present some unenjoyable hiking. Perfect day out; I imagine everyone had a great day out wherever they were hiking.
