Comments
Comments: Changed into shorts at the ledges (nothing to see, move along, folks). B-berry L Tr well-packed and easily micro-spiked in the AM. Rollins Tr, however, required snowshoes. The hiker ahead of me turned around after losing the trail. I was able to follow it, lose it, refind it into the col, where I eventually lost it completely and whacked through open woods to Dicey's Mill Tr., emerging finally from the Wilderness just above the Rollins/Dicey's junction. Crisp distant views from Killington to the Presidentials from the outlook just before the Passaconaway summit. The snow really softened up on the descent. Most bare booters were post holing deeply. Snowshoes were great. When I took them off after some bare ground 1/2 mile from the first house, I was shocked at how much more taxing barebooting was, even thru just a few inches of slippery soft stuff.
