Comments
Comments: Nice warm, bright day on the Moose. Trails were broken out well. We barebooted up Ravine Lodge road to the trailhead. We put our snowshoes on and left them on all day.

Gorge Brook Trail was well packed with a nice snowshoe track.

Snapper trail was less consolidated and I could see that only skiers had been up/down this way. Once on the Carriage Road there were lots of ski tracks. Came across 2 different skiers today. I imagine the skiing was great today as the sun had softened the snow nicely. Carriage Road was well packed all the way to the Glencliff Junction. At that point we began to see postholes. Along the ridge between the South Peak and the Main Peak there were very deep snow drifts. These drifts afforded some great views along the ridge. Once above treeline, the trail was mostly snow covered with a little ice here and there. The snow above treeline had been scoured down by the wind so it wasn't very deep.

Great views from the summit today seeing many 4000 footers and some in Vermont as well. South Peak Spur was broken out but less consolidated than all the other trails. Looks as though only one pair of snowshoes and a bare booter went up since the last storm. Lots of crouching in the trees approaching the South Peak as the snow is very deep.
