Parking/Access Road Notes: Traveling from Lincoln we parked about 3/4 of a mile before the Kancamagus Pass after shoveling out space for two cars along the south side of the road. Normally this small area is plowed back enough but because of Friday's storm it was snowed in.

Comments
Comments: We started at about 2600' elevation just beyond the sharp bend (not the hairpin, see parking above). The snow cover was soft but we only sank in about 4"-6" with snowshoes and the going wasn't too bad. We tried to follow the ridges for the most part changing our bearing as necessary. The woods were not quite open but relatively clear for much of the way. We did encounter a 'Christmas Tree' farm after about 1 mile in which lasted for roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile. Then it opened up (again relatively speaking) for much of the last ridge until about 1/10 of a mile below the summit. This section was unbelievably thick (two levels up from the 'scrappy' classification) and pretty much straight up. The views from part way up were very good back toward the Osceola's and worth the effort. Finally arriving at the recognized summit we were rewarded with bright sun and no wind so we lingered for almost an hour having lunch and wandering around to the north side and finding even better views (over 180 degrees) toward Carrigain, the Hancock's and the ranges beyond. It was absolutely a wonderful spot for lunch although we certainly worked for it. Thanks to Gordon and Mike for the company and of course Lyla and Rueben.
