Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No problems with any water crossings although in several places the bridges have post holes, take care when crossing. The first major crossing on Lonesome Lake Trail closest to Lafayette Place had significant run off in the afternoon.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few minor blow downs, one on Lonesome Lake and 2 up on the Kinsman Ridge Trail. All easy walk-arounds. There is a section on Lonesome Lake Trail close to the lot that requires a 100-200' detour because it has washed out.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw 3-4, mostly going to Lonesome Lake Hut and back. Met one lab that did North and South Kinsman, no problems other than sticky snow in the paws.

Comments
Comments: Lonesome Lake Trail is like a highway all the way up to the hut (including the walk across Lonesome Lake), well packed and easy to cover with just microspikes or bareboot. I used snowshoes above Lonesome Lake because I found it easier in the soft snow and I wanted something more than microspikes on the 2-3 steep sections of Fishin' Jimmy that have exposed ice. Most hikers had snowshoes or microspikes. Fishin' Jimmy and Lonesome Lake are all packed and in good shape, very few post holes even when I came down at 1-2pm. There must have been a big group through yesterday because it was packed all the way up to North and similar for the Ridge Trail to South Kinsman. I did noticed that Mt Kinsman Trail where it intersects the Ridge trail was not well packed, only one set of snowshoe tracks. Beautiful views from both peaks and both lakes today!
