From the Brookfield facility we walked down the road a few minutes to the power lines. We then followed the power lines up to
the ridge top to the wind farm service road. Followed that approx 2 miles to Millsfield peak, or now known as tower 26. Eerie
feeling up there with those white, giant wind mills as seen against a milky white sky. Views to the Mahoosucs and Presidentials
significantly decreased due to high cloud cover.
Power lines slope faces south with resulting range of surface conditions: hard surface, running water, exposed ledges, dirt and grass.
Service road - hard packed with 1' snow in a few spots.
Once back to the car, we drove down the road to a turn off at approx mile 4. From here we bw through young, whippy hardwoods to the
obvious high point of Dummer Ponds Mt. situated in nice, open woods.
We carried low flotation snowshoes all day, but always booted with microspikes.
