Microspikes on Zealand Road to the Hale Brook Trail head. Snowshoed to the summit. Monorail mostly stable. Snowshoes recommended.
Beautiful day at 53 degrees on the summit.
Lend-a-hand was a mess. Three guys made the trek from the hut to the summit in boots and postholed most of the way, a six hour journey. Our group of 8 made the trail a bit better, but we also broke through at times. On snowshoes, going down took a little over an hour. There was quite a bit of water and slush on the lower parts of the trail that is easily negotiated or bypassed on snowshoes. |
