Comments
Comments: Well we started off on the road just past 8 with 2 cars in the lot. The road was crusty and hard with some ice. We got to the trailhead in just under an hour. I test out on bareboots the trail-hard pack! So we threw on microspikes and went. The gal in front had snowshoes and the guy in front had bareboots. Not even one post hole for us. We made it to the junction in about 45 minutes and found there to be no trail sign. So we followed the broken out trail and kept going. At around 10 we just the ascent. Begining. So we threw on our snowshoes so we could use the televators. And looking at the tracks that is what the barebooter did too. It was slow going but trail again was in great condition. Only crappy thing was getting hit in the face from all the branches. There was one blowdown you had to crawl under on that section (4the switchback). Since i count random things-i had it to be 14 switchbacks with a dog leg to the ridge. We made it there for about 12:30ish. You could hear the wind now roaring. The couple who passed up were throwing on their layers as we did. So clear with some clouds but almost blown over. I even threw on goggles! The ridge was quick and you could see the tower clearly. By 1:15 we made it to the top just as the couple were leaving. Enjoyed the summit with some lunch and headed down about 1:45. It was less windy on the summit and also a little less on the ridge on the way back. We made it down fairly quick and passed 1 solo guy heading up to the peak(7 total including us). We made it to where we threw our snowshoes on at about 3:24. We wore them til we hit a water crossing and swapped back to spikes. Still no postholing with them. (Compared to sat this was awesome). Well we got back in no time hitting the road for 4:25. I took my spikes off as the grader and a few snowmobiles came through. We were back to the car for about 5:07!!! This made 40:48 and beardo 41/48 for the winter list.
