Comments
Comments: i walked up pike hill road which was plowed down to dirt and a thin layer of snow/ice. shortly after the snowmobile trail joined the road from the west i turned right at the next junction following the packed trail a short distance south before starting the bushwhack to plymouth west peak. nice open woods all the way up. snow was slighly crusty and partially consolidated, but quickly became wet. breaking wasn't too bad for the most part. the summit area on west is quite broad and i visited a few bumps all of which felt fairly close to the same height. hard to tell with all the snow, but my altimeter showed the southern most bump as the highest and it is recognized.

i then headed down to the col with the main peak of plymouth weaving through small stands of spruce and keeping mostly in open regrowth hardwood forest. the snowshoeing was really nice though the snow was increasingly wet. from the saddle i ascended quickly entering mature conifer forest which was mostly open with a few sharp pitches and lots of moose sign. at a sub bump east of the main peak i joined the plymouth mountain trail which had a trace of an old trough, but had not seen recent use, up to the highpoint. i wandered on and off the newfound spur down to the viewpoint dismayed to see a no trespassing sign posted just before the fantastic view.... the trail from the north didn't show any signs of recent use.

i descended on the plymouth mountain trail which is not blazed, but has wooden mowglis signs marking it somewhat sporadically. i walked off the trail a couple times especially near the bottom, but always got back on it fairly quickly. once back on pike hill road i walked it back to the car.
