Comments
Comments: Wow what a day ! Started out with the plan to summit Adams and then Madison. Took Air Line, had only been broken in by one other hiker. Lots of snow and impossible to do without snowshoes. Got up above treeline after a while and the wind really started to pick up. Checked on mountwashington.org and it said 65mph steady with gusts of 80mph. When I got to the ridge on Air Line it was almost impossible to stand up, so I canned the idea to summit Adams with that kind of wind coming in sideways. However, I descended towards the Hut and decided to summit Madison due to the wind in the back at that point. Summited easily but then wind at the top was atrocious. Came back down taking Valley Way and the conditions were completely different than Air Line. Heavy packed and sticky snow for the most part. Beautiful day but a lot of management between Hillsounds and snowshoes.
