Comments: Fantastic Day with terrific views all day. Snowshoes car to car. Old Bridle Path to Greenleaf was perfectly packed. May not be now due to bare boosters. Some drifting above the hut and snowshoes were perfect. Very windy on summit of Lafayette. BillC measured 30mph sustained and gusts to 50. That's how I lost my new Red Sox Hat which I thought I would find on OwlsHead next summer. As luck would have it, it did not go too far. (Means the Sox season looks good).

Over to Lincoln and Little Haystack snowshoes the best becauce bare booters had really chewed up the drifted areas. The most difficult part of the day was from Little Haystack to Shining Rock which was a bare boot cluster bleep. Drifted snow, potholes, and a general mess. At one point I observed to my hiking partners that it had a long time since we had seen so many under prepared hikers that clearly did not understand the risks of an above tree line hike. Amazingly after several feet of snow this week the majority of hikers did have or wear snowshoes. With deep powder on the trails whoever thought crampons was a good idea???? Below Shining Rock the trail was a little more solid. By afternoon with above freezing temps the snow got soft and will probably harden overnight.

Be kind to others and to yourself and wear snowshoes.
