Comments
Comments: Nailed #38 with some help from two close friends. Both helped me summit as it was a hard morale day. Forecast was off and started the hike at 8:30am at 2 degrees with snow. The trail was broken but had loose powder all the way to summit. Bunnell notch trail was fine to follow- the hikers who broke it out at one point lost it- follow the brook up the ravine to the left. Near the ridge, one of my snowshoes broke and had to wear spikes to the cabin. A few people passed us all wearing snowshoes, met a nice gentleman during the day and saw about 12 total. A few post holes here and there (sorry, most were covered up from butt sliding down and also good snowshoe use). On the ridge- crusty snow but lots of it. Cabin has little bit of snow in it. Summit was super snowy with drifts looking down kilkenny ridge trail to unknown pond-no tracks that way. Enjoyed a heady topper at the summit! Way down was fun butt sliding and also glissading on snow shoes. This storm will probably hit hard sun-mon so trail conditions may vary. Hike time total 8:30am-4:30pm with plenty of breaks.
