Comments
Comments: The trail was all packed out. There was an underlying ice surface overlain by unpacked snow of varying depth. In spots there was some exposed ice. The most difficult surfaces were the crusty side hill sections in the open glades. Trail crampons or snowshoes with built in crampons are advisable for the conditions. I used the flex alp snowshoes for the entire distance. The stairs to the observation deck were very icy. I heard reports from hikers that ascended via the Hi-Cannon trail that it was very icy at the ladders.

Although it was cloudy, there were times when Lafayette and Lincoln's summits were visible. Many hikers on the trails today as well as skiers. Nice views down to Echo Lake. Intermittent snow showers added a nice wintry touch.
