Comments
Comments: Beautiful day, and very nice snow conditions, for Larry, Bob and I. We bare-booted to the Mt Osceola Trail, then wore snowshoes over both peaks and back down to the view point at the top of the first steep shoot, where we put on crampons. I switched back to snowshoes after the steeps, just for easier walking, the others stayed in crampons back to the car. The entire trail is well packed down, but a little unconsolidated, with no post-holing--just a little bare-booting/crampons chopiness. No serious, exposed ice on the steeps, snow shoes worked well going up, and crampons were used going down to avoid uncontrolled snowshoe skiing going down in the not hard-packed snow. Numbers 400 and 401 for Larry.
