Noted the state has made an entire row of the parking lot for Compact Vehicles Only. Ironically, a hybrid was idling in the parking lot (on gas) for a good hour this morning. |

On Brook Trail, rock hoppable with care. |

No blowdowns. Some new drainage installed on lower Mt. Major Trail by the BRATTs this fall, but a massive amount of work is still needed. |

Mt. Major Trail up to the Brook Trail junction had about an inch of snow, well packed. Occasional minor ice.
Above the junction, the Mt. Major Trail was generally packed powder (up to perhaps 2 inches with deeper drifts at the summit) with some blue ice filling in in the usual place below the upper ledges. Was able to ascend without traction with care.
Brook Trail had an extended stretch of blue ice above the North Straightback Link, which folks are bypassing. Some other areas of isolated ice.
I barebooted roundtrip with care without issue, but carried spikes. Some may prefer to wear spikes at this point. |
