Comments
Comments: Despite finding another car at the trailhead when I finished, I had Lafayette to myself today, which has never happened to me before! Bridle path up to Greenleaf is in good shape and getting packed down. I wore light traction to the hut but probably should have upgraded before tthose final steep ledges. They are really icy beneath the snow. Put on hillsounds at greenleaf but quickly changed to snowshoes once I got fully above treeline. Snowdrifts and fresh snow had mostly filled in the trail so i don't think I would have gone all the way up without the snowshoes. Conditions on the ridge were pretty bad so I just turned around and went back the way I can instead of attempting the loop. Clouds started lifting as I came down, which gave me some views at least. Awesome day to be out hiking.
