Comments
Comments: the fire road and round pond trail are in nice shape. lots of leaves down so had to take care with footing in spots. round pond-piper link more of the same. at the trails height of land on suncook i bushwhacked up to the summit in mostly open woods finding a flagged herd path just before the summit. it ran both east and west and i opted to follow it east for a bit thinking it might lead down to round pond, but when it veered hard south i jumped off and bushwhacked back to the round pond-piper trail.

back at the round pond/round pond-piper junction i made a short bushwhack up to the summit of heator through open woods. neat rocky summit. some filtered views with the leaves off the trees.

back on the trail to round pond i enjoyed some nice new (to me) rock work down to and around the pond to the klem-mack loop trail. trail is in good shape and where it passes below the summit then loops north i opted for a short bushwhack to the highpoint where i picked up the spur trail back down to the loop. some wet ledge on the trail to mack, but mostly good going with some deep sections of leaves. the rest of the loop and short piece of the mack ridge trail to the pond are in great shape. nice day to be in the belknaps.
