we followed the overgrown old log road to its end at a landing past a nice beaver pond. great views on the walk in to our planned destinations. given the time of year the walking was good, but at peak growing season maybe less so. we then followed skidder roads and patches of open woods up to near the col between the peaks. we opted to go for east horne first and quickly found steep woods/cliffs and scrappy going. moving west we found a climbable line up the steepest section then entered some neat forest with endless mossy footing and wide spaced conifers. this good forest was par for the course up to the recognized highpoint. cool summit area. coming back down to the col it was trickier to find a way down, but we eventually did and were soon crossing the regrowth filled col and headed towards southeast horne. scrappy coniferous woods prevailed much of the way with stretches of better going up to the recognized highpoint. coming down we took a line on the beaver pond and dropped down into a heavily logged stretch with nice views north. we made our way through the regrowth without too much trouble back to the logging road we came in on. nice day to finally finish up the nh300.
