Comments
Comments: from parking we followed the cohos trail west, sign for trail blazers bridge, down to the bridge across the stream. a short climb led to an intersection with west side road. from the junction we took a bearing on the stratford ridge a bit south of north peak and headed up. woods were mostly open with good going. just below the ridge we slabbed south a bit to avoid some small cliffs. once on the ridge it was a nice walk in very open woods north to the recognized highpoint. we then traversed the ridge south with more nice open woods. we followed roads on and off before stumbling on a very nice old road we followed quite a distance to the col between the two peaks. along the way we noted a blue blazed boundary and once we were out of the col the boundary seemed to run roughly as shown on the usgs up to the 2333 sub peak. heading up to the main peak we hit a couple steep pitches and slightly scrappier woods and undergrowth. we also often followed along the blue boundary which continues up contrary to the usgs. just before the recgonized highpoint there were some great views from a cut towards savage and the east savage peaks as well as to west castle and sugarloaf. from the summit we followed the ridge back north to the first saddle then headed down to west side road enjoying endless open woods all the way down. once on the road it was a fairly quick walk back to the cohos junction and car.
