taking a cue from nordic gals earlier report i parked on the shoulder of grandview road in sugar hill just west of oxbow farm and the interesection with lovers lande. i found a spot to get most of the way, but not all the way, off the road. |

from the road i threaded the needle between oxbow and another property to the west noting no prohibitions and initially following along a rock wall. the woods all the way up to the summit were open with numerous old roads, rockwalls and up high some old bike trails. the grade was fairly steep in spots with one slick rocky area i avoided on the descent. the summit area had been logged over from the other side and had heavy undergrowth making the search for the highest point interesting. after a fair bit of stomping around i didn't find any recognized highpoint and i did not leave anything either. best i can tell the highest point is one of a overgrown couple ledges to the eastern end of the summit area.
i descended roughly the same route just beating some heavy rain. checking the weather and noting a nasty storm coming i passed on another hike in the area and headed south. |
