| Trails: |
Mt. Major Trail, Brook Trail |
| Date of Hike: |
Tuesday, July 5, 2016 |
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Route 11 lot had overflowed onto the highway during the day, as is often the case. Some spaces in the lot late this afternoon. Lot has less capacity now due to pottapotties (Boston term) and handicap spaces. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The lower crossing on the Brook Trail is a bit tricky due to how wide it is (the water isn't deep or swift moving). No crossings on the Mt. Major Trail. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Dramatic erosion and trail creep. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
| Bugs: |
Deer flies occasionally vexing in lower elevations. Occasional mosquito. |
| Lost and Found: |

| Comments: |
Trails were generally dry with the exception of the normal muddy spots. Amazing how much the trails have deteriorated in recent years due to heavy use and minimal trail maintenance.
Lots of ripe blueberries just beyond the summit. |
