Comments
Comments: Although it has been dry and water levels are low, we did the Black Pond BW instead of staying on trail just because we like that route better. Ditto for the Brutus BW. We opted to 'whack down the NW Ridge to 13 Falls, roughly the same route I took last month. This month it seemed a bit harder, probably because flora/foliage was more leafed out so it felt more like real bushwhacking. FP was not as enthralled with the route as I, even though this ridge is by far the most mellow grade on Owlie! (1000 feet in 1.6 miles +/-)

Upon reaching 13 Falls, we rewarded ourselves with a nice foot soaking while basking on the sunny rocks before the long, 8-mile slog back to Lincoln Woods TH. It was not quite warm enough to jump into any of the pools; in fact, it felt more like September than almost 4th of July for much of the day. Incidentally, we encountered our first humans of the day at 13 Falls, then met quite a few groups heading to 13 Falls on our way out.

This hike completed SMJ(une) and brings me halfway to my goal--288/576 SYG. :)
