| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
This was our third maintenance day on HBT. We began from the north/west end, and did very extensive brushing for 1/4 mile from the fire road in past the deadwater. It was very hard work, but we believe we now have a clear and obvious trail corridor. This area had brush as high as four feet obfuscating the trail, with many many fallen trees with blazes. The brushing is very rough, but most everything over one foot in height is done. All of this sector is marked with yellow tape where a yellow marker is missing. Bob took the yeoman's task of cutting several 12" walkovers and rolling them trailside for this entire section. The next trip is likely to be yellow trail blaze painting. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
woof? No woof, but a red tailed hawk. |
|
| Bugs: |
Deerflies are out. Deerfly patches (ebay "12 pk Deerfly Patches, TredNot Deer Fly Patch Odorless repellent") are incredibly useful. I swear by them. So cheap and so useful. Went through two patches, with perhaps 60 flies stuck to the tape, wore no repellent and not a single bite. |

| Comments: |
With the beaver circumvention on the south end of the trail and marked, the trail is fully navigable without the need of compass and map. Trail work will continue later this summer and fall. We will be organizing a Meetup group to help get the trail to a full 4' width. |
