Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We got there when there was plenty of room at PNC to my surprise. I was prepared to park at Wildcat and take Crew Cut in. On our return cars were parked out along the road in both directions.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All signs in place and trails in good shape. Raymond Path had its waterbars cleared and Old Jackson Rd had a waterbar crew come through a couple of weeks ago who did a lot of work on its. There was an easy stepover on Raymond Path and then a duckunder blowdown further down. Two blowdowns on Blanchard Ski Trail, the first a ski stopper but easily hiked by; the second just a face slapper near the parking area. The drainage logs are getting old and parts in the transmission line are very brushy. The trails around Hermit Lake shelters can't be a bit confusing; my map doesn't show them all and they aren't named. The inner loop to the shelters has no sign only a green arrow if one gets there to the right of the main shelter on Tuckerman Ravine the one sign on Tuckerman has added carving and comes out unsigned on Tuckerman. The bigger loop over to Huntington has the carved sign on Tuckerman.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Pepper had fun. I had him handle lead dog chores most of Boott Spur to make sure he didn't overheat. But humidity was low, and morning temps cool, so it went well with one long shade stop part way up the above treeline section. He had a long sip n dip at a spring on Lawn Cutoff; it felt sooo good. By the time we turned around at Gulfside & Westside, the clouds had developed and we were in shade much of the time above treeline. There was some water on Tuckerman Crossover but a repeat sip n dip at the Lawn Cutoff was nice. Boott Spur high is dry, as is its Link, but there is a nice stream near Tuckerman. Raymond Path had many fine sip n dips. We did see one other dog and a companion young one on Boott Spur just above the Link intersection as we descended. The boulder fields above treeline on these trails can have sharp edges and crystal structures so if paw pads aren't toughened up, Fido could be a sad puppy.
Bugs
Bugs: No problems.

Comments
Comments: With low humidity, a fairly early start and later shade from the clouds, a couple of key sip n dip springs up high and many low, and getting Pepper to take the lead much of the time, he had a comfy hike. We saw very few hikers on our trails; we hiked mostly in solitude while there were conga lines on Tuckerman Ravine and Crawford Path, and many on Gulfside. Hiking relatively flat trails above treeline with scenic vistas in all directions is so nice. Thanks Pepper for another wonderful hike.
