| Dog-Related Notes: |
We saw several dogs on the trail. The seemed to be enjoying the company and the hike. |
|
| Bugs: |
The black flies were out and biting on the summit. If you stop to have lunch there, wear long sleeves and make liberal use of the bug spray. Otherwise, the black flies were pretty harmless on the trail. |

It turned out to be a beautiful day for a leisurely hike up Mount Pierce. We had expected the trail to be crowded as a result of the holiday weekend, but were pleasently surprised that we only came across a relatively small number of hikers.
The bottom part of the Crawford Path was dry, but after the Mitzpuh cut-off the springs are running and things got a little wet. That being said, the trail is in great shape and the water and mud are minimal. On the summit, the conditions were perfect. The alpine flowers (diapensia shrubland) were in bloom and the views to the north were incredible. Mount Pierce provided a perfect backdrop to the start of the summer hiking season. |
