We followed the road NW from gate 193 to a height of land. After considering launching a bushwhack, we choose to follow it a little further, gently downhill, and then up a little more. We were pleased with this choice as we found the Pittsburgh Clarksville line to be well cleared and blazed in yellow to an extent so thorough, that is was comical. We turned west (left) onto the town line and followed it to the height of land on the south slope of Beaver Pond Mountain. From there, we made a short, open-woods bushwhack north to the highpoint, which was marked by a yellow X. We reversed the route to descend.
The cut/blazed town line offers great access to this mountain; this ease helped support our multi-peak day. Good to hike up north with Amy and bryan. |
