Great two day traverse of the Bonds with excellent weather and good friends. We left Lincoln Woods on Saturday and made our way steadily to Bondcliff where we spent a while enjoying the views and talking with other hikers before moving on to Bond. From Bond we went down to Guyot Campsite to secure a site before it filled up for the night and used microspikes on the section between Bond and West Bond and Guyot campsite. The shelter and platforms were full by 3pm. We then went to West Bond before heading back to camp for the night. We left early the next morning and used our spikes on and off again for a decent section between Bondcliff Trail and Guyot and from Guyot to Twinway and Zeacliff. We encountered a number of folks without traction, but it would have made for slow going and in some places dangerous. Overall, we had a great time and were really lucky to avoid the rain and thunderstorms that were originally forecasted for the day. What a great section of wilderness to explore! |
