Comments
Comments: For my first bushwack, this was a relative easy one. My dad and I got to Lincoln woods at 9:30 knowing a summit would not happen due to rain. We wanted to check out the bushwack anyways. Railroads grades were easy and Black pond trail was a little muddy. The bushwack has to ways- a higher route that rides along the ridge or a path that goes lower and twists more. We took the lower path and there were multiple blow downs along the way to navigate through. We lost trail a couple times but was no big deal as we stayed in a mostly diagonal path towards owl's head south. The trail comes out on the last significant brook crossing where there is a stealth camp spot. We walked up a ways probably within a mile of the slide trail to owl's head and turned around as it was starting to rain harder. On the way back, we followed the trail but went off trail and bushwacked closer to the ridge and came out on the upper path. Either path you know you are on it as there is a few tape markers as well as one very muddy spot and one significant stream to cross (with a rock to use). Out by 5 for a total of roughly 12 miles. was wet walking out.
