Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: From Route 117 in Lisbon and then north up Northey Road, the gravel road ends at a gate and a turn around large enough for 4 cars or so. I did check out access to Northey Road from Center District Road and it is all posted up and there some logging going on with no good place to park.

Comments: Northey West Peak (Lisbon, NH high point)

After searching over my topo maps I didn't find the un-named peak mentioned in the Wikipedia page and Hockeypuck's NH Town high point list, there is no 1600 contour east of Pearl Lake. Bryan confirmed this and guided me to look at a West Peak of Northey that is just east of an un-named pond on the east side of Lisbon (Northey proper is in Sugar Hill). This is the only 1600 elevation contour in Lisbon we could find. I left my car at the turn around and walked around the locked metal gate with "Wheeler" sign on it.Nice walk up the lighty used section of the road to a house and a big pond that the powerline cross over. I stayed straight on the old road ROW and far from the house until just before reaching the height of land I took a right east on an old logging road and followed it south of a small bump and under the powerlines. I then just picked a line and went bushwhacking to the summit. To my surprise I found a pair of long weathered benches, a red set facing north and then another pair of blue benches facing south. I had the feeling no one has been here in some time using an old road that appears to come up from private property on Center District Road. I think the trees have grown up a lot since the benches were placed here and since it was rainy and cloudy I didn't have a vista to enjoy anyway. I tramped around and found two places that could be the high point, the rocks right behind the red benches. Two miles round trip and I was glad I had my umbrella for the woods road part of the outing. Btw afterwards I checked out the Northey Road a short distance past height of land north and it wasn't long before the property on the ROW of the road was Posted. Interesting area and I imagine all the summer people will be back soon.
