Comments
Comments: Started off barebooting but within 1/4 mile put on spikes since heavily trodden trail was pretty icy. Carried crampons but with temps above freezing all night, icy sections on the steeps remained softened and grippy enough that spikes were adequate this day. Went clockwise, up North Hancock first. Some newer snow on the ridge from a couple of days ago but not enough to warrant snowshoes. Descent of South Hancock took some care, especially with major snowballing under spikes(!), but I made it down--upright--in about 7 minutes and managed to wipe out only twice. Had the Hancocks to myself this morning. SMM 47-48/48 :)
